Description

Jersey City Paid Leave- Employee Poster All private employers with employees working in Jersey City, New Jersey are required by City Ordinance No. 13.097 to post in a conspicuous and accessible place in each establishment the official Jersey City Earned Sick Leave Ordinance Poster. Employers are also required to provide each employee with written notice of their rights under the law. The Earned Sick Leave Ordinance requires private employers with 10 or more employees to provide up to 40 hours paid sick leave annually. The Ordinance requires employers with less than 10 employees to provide up to 40 hours unpaid sick leave annually. Sick leave may be used for the employee's own illness, injury, or health condition, or to obtain medical care, or for health reasons of a covered family member, and for public health emergencies. Employers are subject to a $100 fine per employee for failing to give written notice and a $500 fine for failing to post the official poster.
